A veneer is a thin layer of material (either composite resin or dental ceramic) placed over a tooth, to improve appearance, or to help protect from further damage to the tooth's surface.

Inlays and onlays are a way of restoring teeth that have lost structure due to decay or damage. Unlike regular fillings which are built directly in your mouth, inlays and onlays are made in a lab, then cemented into place. Inlays are made to fit into the tooth and onlays are made to sit on top of the remainder of the affected tooth.
